WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ANOINTED | WHAT IS ANOINTING

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ANOINTED | WHAT IS ANOINTING

Answer:
The question of what is anointing and what is to be anointed is easy to understand from God's own perspective.

Anointing means an outpouring of oil on somebody or out pouring of the spirit upon a person chosen of God, set apart for his own service.

When this happens, the person who receives this outpouring is said to be anointed.

The Blessing:

This outpouring activates the gift of God in the anointed which gives him special ability to work the work of God or to occupy a certain office in God’s works.

For you know what anointing is all about will help you seek God’s face for this purpose. It is not sufficient only that you are a Christian you need anointing to go the extra mile in your Christian journey.

Message:

Think about the book of 1 Samuel 10:1; the Bible said: “Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head and kissed him and said, is it not because the Lord has appointed you to be a captain over his inheritance?”

By this event, Saul was set apart given a special ability to the office of President or kingship of Israel.
In Leviticus 8:12, it is written.
“And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him to sanctify him”.

Moses poured this anointing oil upon Aaron to set him apart for the office of a priest. So that he can relate to God and be used of him. Being anointed he becomes appointed by God to a priestly office to perform priestly duties. Through the anointing oil, the spirit goes in and out of the anointed

Today we have the anointing of the spirit rather than oil. As it is written Acts 2:4.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance”

The out pouring of the Holy Spirit upon the believers of Jesus by God sets them apart for God's own use. By this they have spirit ability to relate with God; use the gift of the Holy Spirit in signs and wonders; in prayers and preaching the gospel.

By this outpouring they enter into their offices as Apostles; Evangelists, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers and Help ministers.

Without the out pouring of the spirit upon a believer he lives his Christian life in the flesh which is not the best.

This out pouring of the spirit is what we commonly call Holy Spirit Baptism; which means burial or covering: when you are baptized, it is your soul that is baptized, it is your soul that is buried and covered by the Holy Spirit, his presence over flowing upon your soul, thereby manifesting in tongue speaking.

Refilling: There is a time the anointed may be in the flesh; quiet and peaceful.

And God sees the need to use him; he immediately stirs the Holy Spirit who releases his anointing or out pouring of his spirit upon the anointed, and he receives a fresh strength of God to act:
“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, you rulers of the people and elders of Israel”. (Acts 4:8-9).

He has been filled originally at the upper room (Acts 2:4) but because he is anointed/baptized/ appointed; he could be refilled from time to time as God sees the need.

The Anointing: This is what it means when the Bible says, “But the anointing which you received  of him abideth in you and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in him.” (1 Joh 2:27).

Once you are anointed, the anointing remains in you unless you live in sin. Sinful life style blocks the flow of the anointing.

The anointing, therefore, is an indispensable tool for every believer to relate with God.  By it, you receive the grace of God to do all things in Christ  Jesus. Do you understand it now?

God bless you
